Liberal Democrats Bloodbath As Labour Consolidates Power, Sheffield City Council Local Election Results 2012 / Sheffield Local News

In total 130,246 votes were cast (32.8%) across Sheffield's 28 wards, which resulted in Labour gaining 9 seats from the Liberal Democrats leaving the parties as - Labour with 59 councilors, Liberal Democrats 23 and Greens with 2. On face value the results in relation to the national vote don't look as bad, however the current councillor standings mask the actual meltdown that took place as the Lib Dems were only defending 15 seats and therefore suffered a 60% loss, which follows on from the 2011 bloodbath when the Lib Dem's also lost 9 seats to Labour giving them overall control of the Council.

At the current rate of attrition the Liberal Democrats will be down to single digits within a couple more years.

The most notable loss of the evening was that of the Leader of the Liberal Democrats Paul James Scriven.

The bottom line is that the Liberal Democrats are having their activist base systematically destroyed all for the sake of Nick Clegg and a few Lib Dem MP's having chauffeur driven cars and other perks of the job, which will have huge ramifications for their presence during he next General Election. Given the rate of meltdown it is highly unlikely that the coalition will last until May 2015.

Kash Walayat Labour Candidate For South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Election / Sheffield Local News

Four candidates have been short listed as the potential Labour candidate for South Yorkshire Police Crime Commissioner whom labour party members will vote on during the summer as their representative in the public vote of November 5th, 2012.

Kashaf Walayat, age 41, has over 20 years experience of serving the South Yorkshire communities, including as a City Councillor and member of the South Yorkshire Police Authority.

Shaun Wright, age 44, has been a labour party member for 20 years, Labour councillor for 12 years and is the current Vice-Chair of the SY Police Authority.

Meredydd Hughes is the ex Chief Constable for South Yorkshire Police, who only recently joined the Labour party and last year criticised the creation of the role of Police Crime Commissioners as "a mistake".

Alan Billings is a retired Anglican priest who has served at several churches including Sheffield where he was the Deputy Leader of the City Council.

South Yorkshire Police Authority – I was appointed for my professional skills and expertise as an independent member in 2007; having previously served as a Labour member in 1997 I continue to provide that important accountability element in policing;

Hail Stones Fall in Silverdale Sheffield in April as Global Weirding Trend Continues / Sheffield Local News

Snow, Sun and now Hail, virtually every day is bringing changing weather as a consequence of global weirding as a result of the melting of sea ice at the north and south poles that effects atmospheric air current circulations such as diversion of the Jet Stream which means instead of warm air flowing form the Gulf of Mexico the UK gets cold air blowing in from the North, and hence whilst on average the planet warms as a consequence of global warming, in the UK our weather becomes ever more erratic as the Jet Stream literally twists and turns and develops random kinks which means one day its a summer heat wave and the next day we could be in for an arctic freeze.

This is what it means for Silverdale, Sheffield as we approach mid April. Hail soaked recently planted pots.

Millhouses Park Sheffield Children's Boating Lake, Bouncy Castle, Climbing Frame / Fun Time

Summer came early to Sheffield this year with temperatures well above the seasonal average during March which prompted Sheffielders to populate Sheffield's numerous parks and open green spaces such as Millhouse Park, which apart form the usual swings and climbing frames also has many pay to use facilities such as tennis, bowling, and a pirate themed boating lake for the children.

The fee charged is £2 per person per boat or £3 for two in a boat for an advertised 20minutes. Though do make a note of the time the person goes into the boat, as one of our boats was called in for whatever reason after only 10 minutes! That's HALF the TIME! A quick but firm word with the lady operating sorted that out! Still DO ENSURE you clarify the return time with the person operating, lest you experience the same.

The children definitely had a lot of fun fighting pirate battles on the boating lake.

My dad says I need to get stronger before I start Silverdale secondary school in September this year. He says he can more than double my strength by training me on his Powertec leverage multi-system gym.

It is very hard training but worth it if my strength more than doubles in just 5 months.

After an exceptionally hot March we have just had snow land out of the blue in Silverdale, Ecclesall Sheffield.

Having enjoyed a hot march and taken the opportunity to plant 11 fruit trees, yes that's not 1 but 11. These and several other smaller plants such as strawberries, the cold spell will put these young plants under undue stress, still they should survive a short cold snap.

It's not supposed to snow in April but it did this year, why the arctic weather ?

Apparently it's all due to global warming or more accurately global weirding. What's global weirding you ask ?
